RE: Establishment of Quasi-Parishes in Two Mission-Churches
Dear People of God:
All who believed were together and had all things in common. They would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one's need. Everyday they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking the bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity hearts, praying God and enjoying favor with all the people. - Acts 2: 44-46
It has already been three years since I appointed and sent mission-priests to four mission areas, namely, Barangays Fatima in Tabaco City, Pili-Iraya in Bacacay, Binogsacan in Guinobatan and Batang in Ligao City. After careful assessment of the assigned mission-priests and upon the recommendation Of the Board of Consultors. I am announcing that the mission churches in Brgy Batang, Ligao City and Brgy. Pili-Iraya, Bacacay, Albay will be canonically erected better care of souls as additional Quasi-Parishes in the diocese.
The establishment of these two Quasi-parishes is to be formally decreed on December 15, 2020, which is the start of the Aguinaldo Masses, and that is within the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. And in the spirit of this great jubilee, the mission church in Brgy. Batang, St. Stephen the Protomartyr being the mother parish. will be named St. John XXIII Quasi-Parish whose secondary patron is St. Francis Of Assisi. The community of Brgy. Pili-Iraya, with St. Rose of Lima as its mother parish, will be under the patronage of St. John Paul II.
Let us be grateful to the for the flourishing of the Christian faith in our midst. We pray for the continued building up of these communities and for their spiritual welfare.
In Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd,
